The Wellington Free Ambulance is the sole paramedic service for Greater Wellington and Wairarapa, and the only free ambulance service in the country. They provide both the trained paramedics and the state-of-the art equipped ambulances attending accidents and emergencies across the regions; as well as first responder services for unexpected medical events at home.
The Wellington Free Ambulance service also operate the Central 111 Emergency Communications Centre from their Thorndon headquarters: staffed 24/7, 365 days a year by their emergency medical dispatchers. As a charitable organisation, the Wellington Free Ambulance welcome donations to assist them run their service.
